 Friends of City Varieties

The Friends have been supporting this project for many years with a selection of regular and one-off events and have to date pledged up to £165,000 towards the refurbishment.

 

Their continuing endeavours include a shop at 28 Eastgate, Leeds and an ongoing programme of social events.

Past Fundraising Events

Over the last few years, many events have been held to raise funds towards the refurbishment project.

 

These have included:
Clearout sales of costumes, props and technical equipment

Collections from the audience after each performance

Talks, tours and presentations hosted by our General Manager, Peter Sandeman

Donations from customers at point of ticket purchase

An exclusive Fundraising Dinner was held in March 2009 after closure to the public

 

Seat Sponsorship

 

A successful seat sponsorship scheme had run at the City Varieties for many years. When the seats were removed in 2009 prior to our refurbishment, sponsors were allowed to keep the one holding their dedication as a memento. A revised scheme offering the opportunity to Name a Seat for a set period of time, is being launched in June 2010

We are also indebted to the wonderfully generous nature of our many patrons and supporters who have given to the refurbishment project over the years. Your contributions are much appreciated.
