Initial Investigations Begin!

Spring 2009

As Management and Staff of the Varieties continued to pack up the offices and clear historical items into storage, contractors began early exploratory works in preparation for the teams coming on site later in the year. Many thanks to Phil D for permitting use of these images.

The seats have all now been removed and transported to the Royal Court in Liverpool.

Plans are afoot to reinstate these semi-circular auditorium windows which have remained bricked up for decades.

The Circle Bar has now been emptied of its historical memorabilia in readiness for a full restoration to its former Victorian glory.

This "forgotten room" uncovered during exploratory works will be reclaimed and used as storage space.

Detail of the original ceiling decoration has been painstakingly revealed.
